Wage House is looking for established indie improv teams to audition for our stage! If you are on a team that rehearses regularly and maybe even performs once in awhile this is the opportunity for you! We are seeking reliable, professional and enthusiastic teams with a strong concept or form to perform in 15 minute opening sets.
Each audition slot will be 30 minutes long; 15 minutes for your set and 15 minutes for feedback. This feedback will be based on any changes that could be made to make your set really shine on our stage specifically as well as technical notes such as vocal volume, stage positioning, pacing and clear communication of form or concept. Wage House believes improv is a fully collaborative art form and we can all improve from helping one another with positive, respectful feedback.
If chosen, we will be scheduling indie teams as needed for opening slots in our Friday night shows. Accepted teams will be eligible to be offered opening slots over the coming months. We will ensure that all teams accepted will be offered slots fairly and equally based upon their availability.
What we are looking for in teams/forms:
Onstage, Wage House is looking for sets that are high-energy (which doesn’t always mean loud and crazy) and polished. We are looking for teams that have been rehearsing together as this chemistry and focus really shows onstage. If you have always had an idea for a group or a form but haven’t yet rehearsed or staged it you are welcome to seek an audition spot keeping in mind the above criteria. These audition slots are not for work shopping ideas, we are seeking final products! In addition, we ask that your improv forms have minimal technical needs-we do not have the lighting and sound accommodations (yet) to be able to meet them.
What we are looking for in performers:
Performers in opening groups should be responsible, punctual and good communicators. They should be willing to treat our staff, other performers, our audience and our theater/building with respect. Performers should be available to arrive at the theater no later than 7:30pm on nights they are performing. Groups should also commit to shows as a full group (if you are a group of 8 people we wouldn’t want only 2 of you performing on a night we schedule you for a show). If a show is offered and accepted we will expect your group to perform that night. In addition, we are seeking performers who are excited to perform and have people see them perform!
What your group can expect from Wage House:
When performing at Wage House you will be treated professionally. We will communicate clearly with you and be available to answer any questions before, during and after a show. If chosen, we will discuss with groups compensation options for their time when performing. When performing at Wage House you can expect to perform for a welcoming, supportive and super fun audience!

You must have a scheduled audition slot! We will not be accepting walk-ups!
